The Raw Key Difference

The Raw Key teaches the Terrain Model of Health, also referred to as Natural Hygiene or Life Science. The Terrain Model is antithetical to the Germ Theory of disease.

The Germ Theory of disease creation claims that microorganisms invade the body and that this is what causes disease. Despite the passage of more than 150 years, it has still not been scientifically verified. When subjected to credible third-party testing, the evidence supporting The Germ Theory fails to prove that any germ is the direct cause of any disease.

The Terrain Model is a disease model which states that the state of the Terrain (the internal conditions of the body) is the cause of dis-ease within the body. The Terrain Model disproves Germ Theory which states that external invading “germs” are the cause of disease. The Terrain Model began out of the Terrain Theory of Antoine Bechamp and his contemporaries, with the discovery of Pleomorphism and the idea that “the germ is nothing, the terrain is everything.”

The Terrain Theory of Disease Creation was expanded and refined over the following 150+ years, through the work of Natural Hygienists and the Study of Life Science. Through extensive clinical research, these scientists observed a correlation between disease creation and the number of toxins a person was exposed to, through diet and environmental factors. These disease conditions were then observed to reverse themselves when the diet and lifestyle conditions were corrected by a return to the natural fruit centered diet.

The Natural Hygienists also observed that there are two forms of disease symptoms, Constructive Symptoms and Malfunction Symptoms.

Constructive Symptoms are symptoms like “Colds” or “Flus”, where the body is expelling toxins/wastes/poisons. Malfunction Symptoms are when the body has moved into a Chronic state where the wastes (toxemia) is affecting the function of an organ or gland.

The Hygienists observed that when a body was returned to the natural fruit-centered diet the Malfunction Symptoms would move into the Constructive Symptoms through the healing phase and then if the person remained on the fruit-based diet the Constructive Symptoms would also be eliminated and would not return as long as the Terrain remained clean. Thus proving “Le microbe n’est rien, le terrain est tout.” (The microbe is nothing, the terrain is everything) – The last words of Louis Pasteur – the father of The Germ Theory.

The Science of Natural Hygiene/Terrain Model has been drowned out by a profit-centered disease industry, creating confusion in marketing and leading the average human into thinking that disease is a mystery and unsure what to do to reverse disease. We hope to clear the confusion by providing the solid foundation of evidence which has been compiled by the Natural Hygienists/Life Scientists/Nutritionists over the last 200+ years.

The work here is educational in nature. It does not involve diagnosing, treating, or managing disease, nor does it involve assessing or advising on any individual’s or animal’s specific medical condition or diagnosis. “The Hygienist cares for a sick person very much in the same way that he would a well one, whom he desired to keep well.” – Dr. Herbert Shelton

Meet Lauren Farris

Lauren is the founder of The Raw Key Health Education. She is a Natural Hygiene educator, author, and speaker who shares educational content through sessions, support communities, social media, and written materials.

For over a decade, she has studied the principles of Natural Hygiene and explored their application to both humans and companion animals. Through independent study and personal experience, Lauren shares educational insights into species-appropriate nutrition and natural hygiene principles.

Her work bridges human and animal health through the lens of foundational biological concepts. She focuses on helping individuals understand general principles related to nutrition, environment, and daily practices, and how these factors may influence overall well-being.

With more than 15 years of experience in dog rescue and rehabilitation, Lauren brings both practical exposure and educational perspective to her work. She is the founder of Many Paws Volunteer Transport and administrator of an educational support community centered on species-appropriate feeding.

Lauren is co-author of The Natural Human Diet Quick Start Guide and The Natural Human Diet Testimonials Book, and is currently writing a book exploring natural hygiene principles in dogs and cats.

Her mission is to support individuals in learning about biological principles so they can make informed decisions.

Approach

Educational sessions at The Raw Key are designed to explore general principles of natural hygiene and species-appropriate nutrition.

Sessions focus on foundational concepts such as food types, feeding patterns, and the broader relationship between nutrition, environment, and overall biological function.

Rather than reviewing or assessing any individual’s or animal’s specific condition, sessions remain centered on general educational content and widely observed patterns in nature.

Questions are welcomed within this educational context, and discussions are framed around helping participants better understand these principles and how they may think about them independently.

Many people find these sessions helpful for gaining clarity and building a foundational understanding of natural hygiene concepts, allowing them to make informed decisions based on their own judgment.

The goal is to support learning and understanding of biological principles, not to provide individualized guidance or recommendations.
